GO BEARS!

As Matt mentioned, Cal is currently ranked by the Wall Street Journal as the #2 MBA school (up from #5 last year). And if you’ve been paying any attention to College football, you’ll know the California Golden Bears just got ranked #3 in the country. This is an AWESOME time to be at Cal! Go Bears!

My name is Anlei, and I’m a first year EWMBA student. The first years are divided into four cohorts of about 60 students each. Monday/Wednesday students are in the Blue Cohort, Tuesday/Thursday students (like my fellow blogger Deanne) are in the Gold Cohort, and Weekenders are divided into the Oski and Axe Cohorts. A little about myself – my undergrad was at Cal, so I’ve been bleeding blue and gold for a while now. I went into high tech after graduating with a mechanical engineering degree, and for the last year and a half, I’ve been working as a project engineer in the food industry. Now, I’m a member of the Blue Cohort.

Orientation weekend seems like such a long time ago, but it’s only been about two months. I am greatly impressed by my fellow classmates who have such an incredible breadth of experiences. Just to give you an idea of random facts we learned during orientation – we have two MENSA members in our class, a woman who has her own business as a wedding planner, and somewhere in our class is a former Miss Asia San Diego. You’ll find that your classmates are great resources for learning about other industries and jobs you may be interested in and they’re pretty interesting people too.

Anyhow, it’s time to hit the books because finals are here already! Yes, that’s right. It’s been two months, and the first years have finals. I’ll let you know how it goes.
